I have Charlotte McConaghy's Migrations on my shelf that I got for my birthday two years ago and I still haven't read it 😅 but I sent in a Netgalley request for Wild Dark Shore when I read the description (it's still pending, alas, but I will definitely be picking it up after release). I follow Ordinary Times' Annie Jones on instagram and we've interacted a few times, so I'm excited to read her book too! I'm so envious that you got to read My Friends already, I think I was too late in sending in my request as it's still pending ☹️ so glad to hear you loved it, I adore Backman (and Beartown is also one of my favourites!) Katabasis is another book we have in common for our 2025 book excitement 😃
I love that we have so many books in common! My request for Wild Dark Shore is sadly still pending too, so I’m excited for March 4th and can’t wait for Ordinary Times and Katabasis too!
Ah good to know we're in the same boat for Wild Dark Shore! I hope it's accessible for me in India soon after March 4 🤞🏼 I love that too! I thought I had followed you this morning, but I guess I didn't - rectified now. Looking forward to more book chat 😊 I'll now give you a follow on bookstagram as well, though I'm not as active on there as I used to be.
Depending on which Backman books were hits for you, you might enjoy My Friends more! I found it a bit different from some of his others. There were less characters and more of a focus on friendship and memory. And I really enjoyed Rodham! But forgot to include it in this post 🤭
I love finding people who love Charlotte McConaghy as much as I do! So thrilled we have a new book coming soon. I'm also really excited for Maine Characters, The Compound and High Season!
If you’re looking for more Charlotte McConaghy fans, I highly recommend checking out Torie Talking here too! (I don’t know why it won’t let me tag her now 🥲)
Ok Katherine, I did NOT realize we are both Barnard grads! Millie forever 😊
I am also really looking forward to Wild Dark Shore this spring and the other most exciting release is Audition by Katie Kitamura. She can really do no wrong for me! I hadn’t heard yet that RF Kuang will have a new release in 2025. So many reads to look forward to!
I just bought Once there were wolves today after living Migrations, so excited that there’s a new one by her coming out! I also was granted access to an eARC of Slanting Towards the Sea and the premise sounds so good!

Hard agree with being excited for so many of these!! Will need you to convince me on the Backman because he can be hit or miss for me 😬
and YOU MUST READ CURTIS SITTENFELD’S RODHAM.

Omg now it makes sense why we have so much in common! Bold, beautiful Barnard 💙 I just added Audition to my TBR—it sounds so good!
Just saved a half dozen of these to my “to read” shelf in StoryGraph! Excited to have new releases to look forward to throughout the year!
That makes me so so happy to hear! Hopefully there are some new favorites in 2025 🤗

We have the same taste! Can’t wait for R.F. Kuang’s book - I love her!
